— Caves Branch, Cayo District, Belize, Tuesday, June 29th, 2004 —

The British Army Training Support Unit Belize (BATSUB) has certified Ian Anderson’s CAVES BRANCH Adventure organization as an adventure training partner in Belize.

The British Army decided to establish an Adventure Training partnership in order to provide adventure training for infantry soldiers who have completed rigorous jungle training in Belize.

Ian Anderson’s Caves Branch Adventure organization was determined to have the best infrastructure, highest level of professionally trained personnel and strictest adherence to British Army safety and training standards in addition to their existing search and rescue team and ongoing training programs in Wilderness Medical and Rescue courses.

The Adventure Training Centre will be located at Ian Anderson’s Sibun Jungle Lodge on the banks of the Sibun River, one mile off the Hummingbird Highway. Some of the Adventure Training provided include: Caving, Rock Climbing, River Kayaking / Canoeing and Abseiling. Adventure Training activities help to develop skills required in the military such as leadership, endurance and survival.

Ian Anderson states: “I am very honored and appreciative that the British Forces has acknowledged our years of continued training and high standards of safety and professionalism applied to our adventure training and adventure expedition programs.

“As well, our creation, development and sponsorship of the Belize Disaster & Rescue Response Team and the Belize Institute For Tropical & Wilderness Medicine, has provided training in these areas to many Belizeans over the past 9 years and these teams have responded to the needs of Belizeans and visitors alike during a number of life saving wilderness rescues and in providing rescue / relief operations during Hurricane Keith and Hurricane Iris.

“To be certified as an Adventure Training “Partner” with the British Forces is one of the high points of my life. On behalf all of us in the Caves Branch Adventure organization, we express our gratitude to BATSUB for this recognition and look forward to years of continued successful Adventure Training with the British Forces.”
