Not-for-Profit Programs Sponsored By Caves Branch .. The Adventure Co & Jungle Lodge, But so much MORE !! Ian Anderson has spent the last 15 years as an active member of the tourism industry in Belize. In addition to building a number of successful businesses in Belize, Ian has also tried to give back much more than can be expected from any one person, to his adopted country. In 1993, after just one short year of opening the tiny and struggling Caves Branch, Ian realized there was no emergency response team in Belize. With concern to not only his own guests at Caves Branch, but all travelers throughout Belize, Ian initiated, created and has provided ongoing training and financial support for the past 12 years, for the the first national (all volunteer) rescue organization in Belize. Today, known as BDARRT, the Belize Disaster and Rescue Response Team, this not-for-profit organization is recognized not only by the Belize Tourists Board and the Government of Belize, but also by the British High Commission, the Mexican Embassy, the US Embassy and has been called out on a number of occasions to perform life saving search and rescue operations in addition to responding to 4 hurricane disasters, at home in Belize as well as internationally. Today, BDARRT is made up of over 100 trained rescue and medic volunteers across Belize, and still sponsored by Caves Branch. Caves Branch guides were founding members of BDARRT and are still today, the backbone of the organization. In 2004, Caves Branch created the not-for-profit BAD CAT's "Youth at Learning Risk" program. During the last 3 years, this program has provided tutoring, mentoring, a school meal program, high school and college scholarships, and adventure trips to build self esteem and self confidence to your that were identified as potentially dropping out of school due to already failing 5 or more subjects. The BAD CAT's program has had a success rate of 72% in assisting these youths in graduating from one year to another and for some, continuing their education into college. For more information, please click here to visit the BAD CAT's blog website. At this time, Caves Branch is developing the "Belize National Youth Chess Foundation". The Youth Chess Foundation is a nation wide not-for-profit organization utilizing Chess as an educational and motivational tool to disenfranchised children from 9-12 years of age. Our chess instruction will help children to develop critical and logical thinking, memory development, ability to analyze actions and consequences, pattern recognition, creativity, communication abilities, planning ahead, setting up short and long term goals and intellectual maturity. We plan to involve over 900 children during our first year of operation. Click here for more information on our youth chess program. Caves Branch, the Adventure Co & Jungle Lodge.. But so much more! As an independent traveler, a travel agent or a travel wholesaler, when you support Caves Branch Jungle Lodge, Sibun Student Adventure Lodge, Almond Beach Resort, or AdventuresinBelize.com, you are supporting so much more. Personal donations in continuing to support these wonderful not-for-profit programs are certainly appreciated.
Thank you for your support. Ian and Ella Anderson and the Caves Branch professionals.
