Getting to Caves Branch Jungle Lodge

getting to caves branch belize jungle lodge

Caves Branch Jungle Lodge is located in the heart of the pristine rainforest just a short distance outside of Belmopan, the national capital. Fortunately, it is very easy to get to the Lodge.

By Road

For a separate fee, Caves Branch offers private transfer and shuttle service to the Lodge from anywhere in Belize.

If you’re driving your own vehicle from Belize City, follow the George Price Highway (widely still known as the Western Highway) westward to just outside of Belmopan where it connects to the Hummingbird Highway. There is a well-marked turnoff for the Lodge at mile marker 12 on the Hummingbird Highway, and the reception building is just a short drive down a private road.

Belize has an extensive public bus network. To get to the Lodge by bus from Belmopan or Belize City, take any bus heading to Dangriga or Punta Gorda (i.e. south) and ask the driver to drop you off at mile marker 12 (again, the turnoff for the lodge is well-marked) on the Hummingbird Highway. It takes approximately 15 minutes to walk from the highway to the reception area of the Lodge.

By Air

Domestic airlines Maya Island Air and Tropic Air offer three daily flights from Belize City to Belmopan, the closest airport to Caves Branch Jungle Lodge. Belmopan’s airport code is BCV. Please note that all flights from Belize City depart from the Sir Barry Bowen Municipal Airport (code: TZA), not the international airport. Flying time is just 10-15 minutes. Prices for a one-way ticket average around $72 and $125 for a round-trip ticket, making flying the fastest way to get to the Lodge, if not the cheapest.

Once landed in Belmopan, you can rent a vehicle, take a taxi, or arrange for private ground transfer service provided by Caves Branch Jungle Lodge.

One of the most interesting and certainly unforgettable ways to arrive at Caves Branch is by private helicopter service provided by Astrum Helicopters.

It takes approximately 20 minutes to fly from the international airport in Belize City to Caves Branch Jungle Lodge. A four-seater helicopter journey to the Lodge costs approximately $1,250 while a six-seater journey costs $1,875. Please note that both types of helicopters have a maximum luggage restriction of 925 pounds (420 kg).

Helicopter flights land at the Riverside landing area of Caves Branch, and guests will be met by Caves Branch staff and transported to their accommodations.
