Getting to Belize

Caves Branch is located 12 miles south of Belmopan, the capital city of Belize, on the Hummingbird Highway and can be reached in 3 accessible ways.

How to get here

All international flights arrive at the Philip Goldson International Airport, located just north of Belize City, and most cruise lines disembark in or near Belize City. 

By ROAD

The George Price Highway, more commonly known as the Western Highway, directly links Belize City to Belmopan and surrounding towns and villages. Caves Branch Lodge is located 12 miles outside of Belmopan, on the scenic Hummingbird Highway.

Caves Branch Shuttle

Our friendly drivers are ready to pick you up at the airport and other locations across the country. These locations are shown in the table below. We do not offer Private Transfers. The shuttle service offered will many times have other visitors joining in the same van with you. Please let our agents know that you would like to schedule a pickup or drop-off from the locations provided.

OPTIONAL STOPS on Shuttle Services are additional to all shuttle fees and does not include entrance fees where applicable. Please note that the Belize Zoo is closed on both Christmas Day and Good Friday- Annually but open all other days including holidays.

Prices are in US dollars per person and are subject to 12.5% GST and 10% Resort Fee.

Shuttle service to the area of Mountain Pine Ridge or outside of Belize City towards Northern Belize are not offered at this time. For travel past the border with Guatemala/Belize, shuttle service can be set up with the hotel you will be staying at in Guatemala, to meet you at the border at a specific time.

Private Vehicle or Rental

Once you’re in Belmopan, getting to the Caves Branch Jungle Lodge is simple. Exiting the city, simply follow the Hummingbird Highway south towards Dangriga. The Caves Branch Jungle Lodge is approximately 12 miles south of Belmopan at mile marker 41 and a half. Follow the large sign on the left-hand side of the highway that read “Ian Anderson’s Caves Branch” onto the private road that leads to the lodge.

Public Bus

If you prefer to travel by public bus, there are multiple options. From Belize City or Belmopan, any bus heading towards Dangriga or Punta Gorda will pass by the turn-off to the Caves Branch Jungle Lodge. Simply inform the driver of your destination and the driver will let you off at the entrance to the property. On foot, it takes about 15 minutes to get from the highway turn-off to the reception area of the lodge.

Many visitors prefer to fly to the Belmopan airport and then arrange for shuttle service from the Caves Branch Lodge to get the most out of their time in Belize. Since Belmopan is just 12 short miles from us, flying from Belize City to Belmopan is the fastest option, giving guests more time at Caves Branch Lodge.

Best of all, the airstrip in Belmopan has direct air connections to other top destinations in the country, including Placencia, Ambergris Caye, and Caye Caulker.

Private Helicopter Transfer

A fabulous & unforgettable way to arrive in Caves Branch Jungle Lodge is by air -courtesy of Astrum Helicopters. If arriving from the Belize International Airport- pickups and drop-offs take approx. 24 minutes and you have a choice of 2 chopper sizes:

4 Seater for US$1,250

6 Seater for US$1,875

For arrivals from June to February, please inquire about weather situations that will prevent landing in this area. We will be happy to arrange for alternative landing areas or other suggestions for getting to Caves Branch.
