Notice Regarding the Passage of Hurricane Earl

In the early hours of Thursday morning August 4th, Hurricane Earl made landfall in Central Belize as a Cat 1+ storm packing sustained winds of over 95 mph and with up to 13 inches of rain. This started as early as 12:30am and continued until nearly 6am that morning. While no lives were lost on account of this storm, the damage to the country has been staggering. Caves Branch was within the area that received the eye of the hurricane and the punch has been great. Structural damage to guest rooms was on account of flooding and fallen branches/ trees. We were unable to host any guests for a few tough days and will resume at least 97% of our operations starting on Monday August 8th. If you are scheduled to arrive on or after the 8th, you will notice wind damage to our rainforest cover, and our once lush Botanical Garden. Guest Rooms are back in working order although you may notice bumps and nicks here and there.

Our Adventure Tours: At this time, severe flooding is still affecting parts of Western Belize which have closed off – in particular ATM Cave, Jungle Ziplining  & Xunantunich Maya Ruins. All other adventures and especially those of our Signature Tours which are located on property will be available- EVEN if modifications to the regular tours are made to either include a bit more hiking to go around areas of concern but still provide you with the same fun & memorable activities that Caves Branch is recognized for.

Please accept our apologies in advance for any discomfort you may experience however please be assured that we will do everything humanly possible to make your stay at Caves Branch as relaxing and unforgettable as it was set to be.

Thank you for your patience with us during this crisis and we truly look forward to being your humble hosts during your visit to Beautiful Belize!
