Belize is the Perfect Place for a Tropical Destination Wedding

Located just 2-5 hours flying time from the United States, Belize is rapidly becoming one of the hottest destinations for couples wanting to celebrate a beautiful tropical wedding. Whether your heart is set on a gorgeous beachfront ceremony or an intimate ceremony surrounded by lush nature, Belize is a paradise for destination weddings.

How to Get Married in Belize
The government of Belize makes it very easy for couples to get married in the country. Here's what you need to do if you want to get married in Belize:

  • Both the groom and bride need to be in the country at least three days before you can apply for the marriage license. The price is $105 USD per couple.
  • The license is usually granted within 24 hours.
  • You'll need to present your passports as well as any necessary documents (divorce decree, death certificate for a former spouse, et cetera).
  • Only a Belizean Justice of the Peace, religious minister, or boat captain can officiate the ceremony.
  • At least two witnesses, one male, one female, must be present during the ceremony.

That's it! There are no blood tests required. Minors under the age of 18 must have parental permission to marry in Belize. Once you're married, the certificate will be registered in Belize and will be valid in your home country (including the United States). There will be no need to register again or do anything else.

Optional wedding services can include:
  • Tropical floral arrangements, including bouquet and boutonnière.
  • Wedding cake.
  • Photographer/videographer.
  • Hair and make-up.
  • Catering/food.
  • Organizing the wedding.
  • Organizing transportation, lodging, and activities for the wedding party.
