Caves Branch Hosts International Health Emissaries

Caves Branch Lodge in Belize's Cayo District has once again hosted the International Health Emissaries. From May 8-10, 2017, the International Health Emissaries operated a free clinic in Armenia Village on the Hummingbird Highway, treating hundreds of local children, adults, and the elderly.

A non-profit organization based in the United States, the International Health Emissaries provide free health care and dental services since 1985. In 2015, Caves Branch welcomed International Health Emissaries to Belize for their first project in the country. Four American dentists & team of assistants traveled the country for three days and performed 95 tooth extractions, 54 cleanings, 84 fillings, and 225 other dental services for free.

Caves Branch was proud to host these remarkable health care providers who volunteer their time to provide free services to impoverished communities around the world.

Since its founding almost 25 years ago, Caves Branch Lodge has remained committed to giving back to the local community in Belize. Caves Branch has previously worked with other local initiatives, including "Pack For a Purpose," an organization that coordinates with incoming tourists to bring in much-needed school and medical supplies. And since 2007, the Lodge has been the organizer of the National Youth Chess Foundation, a local non-profit that teaches chess as a way to encourage disenfranchised youths to develop critical skills that will serve them for their entire lives.

Other programs that the Lodge has been involved with include founding the Belize Disaster and Rescue Response Team (BDARRT) in 1993. Founded just a year after the Caves Branch Lodge was established, BDARRT was created as a way to provide additional security both for visitors as well as locals. Hundreds of people have been saved since the program was established.

Caves Branch Lodge is located in the heart of Belize's eco-tourism Cayo District and offers premier vacation packages that include all the best features of the jungle and beach for travelers to enjoy.
